Kinsey I bought three of these Panasonic (MATSHITA) UJ240AS optical drive, the first bought more than a year ago. None of these devices have never failed. It is a fact, not one of them even has hiccup in their activities. The only drawback of these optical drives are the lack of software for playback, but there are many companies out there willing to pamper you with software for playback. Because these devices are, for me is a "known commodity" and the fact that none of the three have purchased is not functioning as it should, I'd buy something else. 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Panasonic BD-R good drive, but not the best! From Ajb It does the job. For the price, I can not complain. The new first did not come with any software or instructions. It would be nice if it came with the software itself. BD-R software is quite expensive and difficult to obtain in some cases, but for $ 140 compared to all competitors BD-R (Notebook / Slimline) all for $ 200 and up, I am satisfied with this unit. 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Works fine for Macs! K. Eng bought this product to use with my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini to play Blu-Rays and burning. Because the USB interface is a bit slow on the burn, but play is great. How many of you know, there is a new software for playing Blu-ray on the Mac - you can get macblurayplayer.com. Provided that the software is not quite ready for primetime, but shows promise! This item is a unit of 12.5 mm so it will not fit in the MBP or the old mini. But I had a cabinet that fits into the plan and take it with me if you need to see or store large amounts of data. I like that there is a space-load as I think it allows me to more types of media (some people still have the mini-disc) that I do not play now either on mac good product and good service in this element of the game forever.
