I literally put it on my MacBook Pro (I had already installed Toast Titanium) and began to Blu-ray burning. It is relatively quick, and so far all discs are played. I used to burn Blu-ray as well as SD recording and copying DVDs. I used it through the fire and USB cable with little difference in speed. It is expensive, but if you have a Blu-Ray for Mac is great. I have an HD camcorder and was tired of watching low quality SD video. No, you can not see it on Blu-ray - that's not what was intended. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Coarse overpriced! By David C. Franklin is a good product that works as advertised. The big problem I have with this product is the price! LaCie 110 is selling $ 206 Pioneer BDR LaCie USB hard disk installed in a garage 20/Firewire 400 to $ 380! This means that you pay only $ 270 for the pen! Because they think the price is acceptable? LaCie makes wonderful outer shell of the hard disk that look good and work very well. So why one star? Because of higher prices outrageous! LaCie Blu-ray or DVD is the same units. In the case of this product all they do is an external USB / Firewire 400 enclosure, and then fall into a internal SATA drive Pioneer BDR 206, and drive up the price! You can get the same thing with the purchase of the Pioneer BDR separately for $ 110: Pioneer internal Blu-ray Disc / DVD / CD Writer BDR-206 (Black) then buy the DVD LaCie USB 2.0/Firewire 400 uses the same slot External for only $ 90: LaCie d2 DVD ± RW DL LightScribe 22X USB2.0 301484U 0 and FireWire OS Should you then remove the DVD from its case (using a Phillips screwdriver), and replace the drive with a Pioneer BDR, and you end up with basically the same product that is sold here, but for only $ 200 out of pocket! You'll also end up with an extra SATA Samsung SH-S223 LightScribe drive that could have fallen into the drive bay inside of a PC or a Mac Pro desktop, or you can just sell on eBay! Yes, it would probably void the warranty on the LaCie to open the box, but you could build two of these products to almost the same price LaCie is here for one if you really need the Roxio software, you should buy it separately. (Personally, I do not need or want Roxio software) LaCie really should consider charging a reasonable amount of money for this product! If you do not want to void any warranty, another option would be cheaper to simply buy the Pioneer drive, and place it in one of these attachments firewire aftermarket (NOTE: I have not personally tested any of the enclosures NEXT!): Bytecc ME-535Limited USB / Firewire 800/eSata Box: Bytecc ME-535Limited-BK - storage - SATA-150 - FireWire / FireWire 800 / Hi-Speed USB / eSATA - Bytecc ME-535SSU2FW black USB / Firewire 400 / eSATA Enclosure: Bytecc ME -535SSU2FW-BK Storage Drawer - Black Alternatively, you could consider buying this device in place, at $ 199 (USB only) external Blu-ray LG (LG External 12x Super Multi Blue Blu-Ray burner BE12LU30) Even though this team has not Firewire, USB 2.0 (480Mbps) is technically faster than Firewire 400 (400 Mbps) that comes with the LaCie drive anyway. It's time for LaCie by real, to be fair and stop price erosion! A fair price for this product will be $ 199, not $ 380! At $ 199, which would still leave them with about 50% profit margin! Currently, they lower their prices for this product, I would like to revise my review, but until then this product is not a good value, it is my hope that this review will ultimately ask LaCie their price on this drive to reduce ! But until then. If you do not do anything too rough
